With a forecast of 27 degrees we parked at the lower end of Woodhills Road and then walked up via the Woodhills North Track to Heritage Park. We had a short stop at the site of Frank Worsley's house - it's a grassy knoll now and has superb views over the Akaroa harbour. The Curry Track through the Purple Peak Curry Reserve took us into the yellow zone (billions of flowering gorse and broom plants).

We stopped to admire the quirky signage before sidling around the back of Purple Peak and then it was a 50 minute descent down the Purple Peak Track to Akaroa and a pizza and coffee at the "Harbar Beach Bar and Kitchen" where we decided to become philanthropists.
